United Rentals continues to expand and enhance its Australian operation including opening new branches in Brisbane and Adelaide while expanding in Perth and acquiring leading access rental company Alfasi Hire.

As well as growing its footprint and product range, it is enhancing customer services with a new United Rentals’ website launching later in 2026 and the company’s Total Control fleet and worksite management platform available as a mobile app.

Neil Littlewood, Regional Vice President United Rentals Australia / New Zealand, said the company was committed to providing great service, quality equipment, and innovative solutions for customers across Australia.

“Key to this is United Rentals’ drive to provide a one stop shop for customers’ rental requirements right across Australia,” he said.

Branch expansion

The new Brisbane branch is strategically located next to the airport to meet increased demand for United Rentals hire equipment and services as the area continues to develop and grow.

“Having greater capacity in a strategic hub like Brisbane Airport means customers have access to a wider range of rental equipment to meet their needs – from portable buildings to container modifications.”

The newly expanded Perth branch will also supply United Rentals’ comprehensive range of shoring, propping, and pumping products with a local team of in-house engineers and qualified installers.

Meanwhile, in Adelaide, the long-standing South Australia branch is moving to a new address and expanding to include general rental equipment, excavators, rollers, power and access equipment.. The new branch supports United Rental’s mobile storage branch which remains standalone.

“There will be a greater range of rental products available in our Adelaide branches than ever before,” said Mr Littlewood. “It enables us to meet increased demand across a wide range of industries, from building and construction, infrastructure, data centres, water treatment and government, through to retail, agri-business, intermodal and the city’s busy events sector.”

Reach for the sky

The acquisition of Alfasi Hire late last year expands United Rentals’ general rental business giving customers access to an extensive range of Elevated Work Platforms (EWP), telehandlers, and forklifts.

“Alfasi is a highly respected business and has built strong relationships with its customers over 40 years. With a focus on servicing the construction and mining industries, its modern, state of the art machinery and highly experienced team has made them an industry leader,” says Mr Littlewood.

“Bringing the Alfasi team together with the resources and expertise United Rentals have as a global leader in the hire sector enables us to provide customers with increased support and access to an ever-growing range of products and services.”

Acquiring Alfasi Hire follows the acquisition of Royal Wolf in 2021 and Shore Hire, Orange Hire and Civil Construction Hire in 2024.

Rental vehicles help drive growth

An essential part of United Rentals’ ongoing expansion is its Vehicle Rental Program with a nationwide fleet of high-quality ‘work ready’ vehicles.

“It’s a natural progression for United Rentals to branch out beyond hire equipment to offer a comprehensive Vehicle Rental Program,” said Ashley Halsall, Head of Product ANZ (Vehicles).

“We have designed the program with commercial customers in mind to help them maximise their operations and take the hassle out of fleet management.”

The United Rentals’ Vehicle Rental Program enables customers to manage their fleet efficiently with the right mix of vehicles, the ability to control maintenance schedules, and keep operating costs in check.

Vehicle configurations available include a 4X4 dual cab with alloy tray and a 4X4 dual cab styleside tub across a range of leading vehicle brands. All rentals include registration, maintenance and roadside assistance.

Taking Total Control

To enhance customer service, United Rentals’ rental and fleet management tool Total Control is now available as a mobile app.

The new app enables customers to control and manage their hire equipment while on the move.

It’s simple and intuitive design makes it easy to do everything from track equipment to pay invoices so customers can get on with the job and keep their worksites moving.

The Total Control mobile app is available from Google Play and Apple’s App Store.

New website prioritizes customer need

With the continued growth of its fleet and footprint in Australia, unitedrentals.com will be going live in 2026 offering Australian customers easy and quick access to the company’s evergrowing range of products and services.

“The new website is an easy-to-use platform that’s built to help customers find what they need, make informed decisions, and move forward with confidence,” said David Humphreys, GM Marketing United Rentals Australia / New Zealand.

“The site is task-led, built around how customers search for, assess, and hire equipment.”

A true partnership

As the world’s largest equipment rental company, United Rentals combines global reach with local knowledge, expertise and an extensive range of products to meet customers’ specific needs.

“We build true partnerships between our local teams and their customers. They know their local market best and understand what customers want, which means they tailor solutions to get the job done effectively, on time and on budget,” says Mr Littlewood.

“Backed by United Rental’s global network, our local teams bring deep industry knowledge and hands-on experience to every project.”
